Review: Prezzo Italian, Salford Quays

I really enjoy Italian food and have been to this Prezzo restaurant several times (as I used to live fairly close-by) I wanted to review in full,as there is a lot of choice down on the Quays and Media City nowadays, therefore, if you are looking to choose a place to eat, I hope this proves helpful.

My friend and I arrived early (5pm) and received a friendly greeting from the staff on walking in. We were shown to a table, which was very comfortable, roomy and not too close to others eating (always a plus for me). The restaurant is split into two two areas. The window side is always where people are seated first and this was starting to fill up nicely when we arrived. I put this down to office staff from Media City finishing at 5pm and also Salford University have a huge presence literally just along the same block of buildings.

The restaurant is clean and tidy and there are plenty of staff members available,so you aren't kept waiting long before someone comes over to say "Hi" and take your drinks order.

We were given two menus to look through, one is the full menu, the other a set menu which runs throughout the day, not just at certain times .... always a bonus, especially if you have a specific budget. It's good for all pockets!

We opted for the Set Menu this time, having used the main menu previously.

The waiter we were assigned was very friendly, smiley and obliging and not too over attentive. His name was Stathis and was only too happy to pose for a quick snap!

I ordered my favourite starter - the Hummus & Flatbread. It was delicious and I would definitely recommend. It is a sizable starter so make sure you're hungry! (be a good one to share)

Once we'd finished our starters, plates were cleared efficiently and without having to sit with dirty plates in front of us. New serviettes and cutlery were provided swiftly and we were then ready for our main course. Everything is cooked fresh, so we did have a 5 min wait but I really don't mind this, as you know you are getting something freshly prepared and freshly cooked. In my case a pizza in their pizza oven, which is on show as a feature of the open plan kitchen.

What a bad boy this pizza was!! The size of a bin lid and piping hot. Stathis offered me parmesan, which I accepted, and some chilli olive oil, which I also accepted. Nothing was too much trouble.

I don't eat pizza that often so this felt like a real treat for me. It was a simple Margherita pizza but was extremely well flavoured and I really enjoyed it ..... as you can see below

It took me a little while to excavate my way through it but each mouthful was a pleasure. Nice thin but not too crispy base, which was easy to cut and didn't fly everywhere when you tried to cut into it. Again the plates were cleared away quickly without any fuss.

We waiting about 5 mins and our desserts arrived (we both went for the 3 courses for £14 option) Salted Caramel Chocolate Tart. Great presentation and served with single cream to pour from a little jug.

It was delicious and again the pastry was just firm enough to break with the spoon without pinging across the table!

We never felt rushed to clear our table once we had finished eating, which is always a bonus. It can be the case but being so early in the night, there were spare tables available. We asked for the bill and it was brought within a few moments.

3 courses for £14 was a great bargain for the food we had. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area and Stathis was such a happy soul, he made the visit that little bit more enjoyable. I will definitely revisit. The set menu is a great idea and caters for all and has several choices for each course so I don't think you would feel limited.
