Review: Panda Mami, Chester

All you can eat buffets seem to have gone in and out of fashion over the last ten years. It's been several years since I ate in one myself. I was part of a group of 9 ladies who ate at this Chester restaurant after a day at Chester Races recently.

We had a table booked for 6.30pm and the table was ready when we arrived.

Everywhere looked clean and well presented and there were lots of staff on hand.

The general idea is that you help yourself to whatever you want as often as you want. There was a choice of Chinese, Thai, Italian Style Pizza and Sushi including an array of starters and desserts too.

All the food was clearly labelled and each had its own serving spoon or tongs.

There was plenty of choice and what I had was certainly hot. Everyone was catered for and the food was being regularly topped up or replaced.

Our group certainly enjoyed it.

It was my first visit there and I'm not really an all you can eat buffet fan but for £16.99 it was decent enough and most of what I had I enjoyed. A couple of dishes were not to my tastes (the sweet and sour was way too vinegary for example) but on the whole it was good value for money.

We'll be going back as a group next year as it offers a variety to suit all tastes.

It isn't somewhere I would book myself, I prefer a restaurant setting rather than the "take away" standard of food but if you have a group of people who all like different things, it's a decent choice.
