First visit to The Architect, Chester

This visit was arranged by friends of mine as a birthday treat, knowing I hadn't been there before yet had put it on my "would like to go" list. We arrived by taxi, which was an advantage as there isn't a lot of parking, as you'd expect in a busy City Centre.

A friendly welcome greeted us, the vibe was relaxed and on first impressions it seemed a family gathering, group booking kind of place with lots of the aforementioned in situe (our group included). It was also a Dog Friendly pub, which always makes me smile (I love dogs).

Great selection of gins behind the bar (my tipple of choice) and also one thing that impressed me was the accompanying selection of garnishes available. So often it's just a choice of lemon or lime but no, here was fresh ginger, basil, sliced orange, grapefruit and strawberries, that was just what I saw!

The menu was varied with plenty of choice, catering for all tastes and food preferences. https://www.brunningandprice.co.uk/architect/menus/daily-menu/

I was swayed by the allure of the Beef Bourguignon, which was served with Dijon mash and seasonal veg. I was by no means disappointed, this beef was in a single cut and it just fell apart upon my fork's touch. Absolutely delicious!! The portion size was just right and it was piping hot too. The price was also very reasonable at £16.75 .... definitely a ten from Len moment!

The other members of our group had a variety of meals including Afternoon Tea, Crispy Beef Salad, Mushroom Risotto and finally ciabatta hummus and dips.

Everyone enjoyed their menu choices and it was full bellies all round, so when the waitress appeared and asked if we wanted to check out the dessert menu, we politely declined ..... however unbeknown to me there was a special treat coming my way, which my friends had already planned and the chef, it would seem, was only to happy to assist in providing FOR FREE!

What a lovely thing to do and certainly made it that little bit more special, knowing it was a "team" effort between my friends and staff at The Architect.

I would wholeheartedly recommend you try The Architect, Chester. I will most definitely be returning. https://www.brunningandprice.co.uk/architect/homepage/
