Sometimes we get asked to an event or invited to a friend's house and we're asked to bring something along. Instead of worrying and then deciding to pay M&S to do it for you, why not make your own buffet blockbuster?!
The sausage rolls are actually a Jamie Oliver recipe which I have made on numerous occasions. They are tasty, quick and easy to do and look impressive too!
The Recipe Ingredients
6 sausages of your chosen flavour (Lincolnshire work well)
1 pack of ready rolled puff pastry
1 egg
Fennel seeds
Grated Parmesan
Black pepper
Method
Unwrap your ready rolled puff pastry onto your worktop (give it dusting of flour first so it doesn't stick) Make sure it's landscape and not portrait! Cut length ways in half so you end up with 2 rectangles of pastry.
Take your sausages and line them one after the other along the pastry (leaving about an inch gap at the top of the pastry. You should have what looks like 1 long sausage. Doesn't matter if they overlap.
Sprinkle the fennel seeds and parmesan along both lines of sausages.
Beat the egg in a cup and brush it along the outer edges of the pastry.
Fold the pastry from bottom to top to make a sausage roll shape and crimp the edge with a fork.
Use the rest of the beaten egg to brush along the top of the pastry and finally sprinkle with Parmesan and black pepper. (you can substitute for sesame seeds too)
Cut each roll into smaller bite sized portions (about 2 inches) and bake on the middle shelf for about 15 - 20 mins (oven times vary depending on your appliance) 180 degrees - Gas Mark 4
